These two adorable pandas were born on July 7 and were the first giant panda twins born in the country. Their names were chosen through a public voting process that lasted 43 days, during which approximately 700,000 people voted. The final decision was to call them ‘treasures’: Rui Bao means “smart treasure” and Hui Bao means “shining treasure.”
I think it is important to mention that giant pandas are born prematurely and have a low survival rate. Therefore, they are usually called only 100 days after their birth, as their life is stable.
“It’s been 100 days since they were born and that means they’re in stable condition,” Kang Chul-Won, the panda’s keeper, shared when the twins made their first public appearance. “But they still need to drink milk and we need to take good care of them because there is still a long way to go.”
When they were born, Rui Bao and Hui Bao weighed only 180g and 140g, but now, every day, they are getting bigger and stronger, as well as revealing the difference between their personalities. : Rui Bao is active like his father Le Bao, and Hui Bao is quiet and gentle like his mother Ai Bao.

Since many people around the world see giant panda videos as a perfect way to relieve stress and improve their mood, giant panda keeper has also become a popular profession.
“Besides keeping their living environment neat and clean, we giant panda keepers also need to look after them around the clock and check their health at any time, as that we can respond in time if there is a mistake,” said Li Zixiao, a giant panda keeper at Nanshan in Zhuhai.
“Usually they eat and play for an hour, then sleep for two hours, the cycle is repeated day and night,” Li said and added that this way of life may look envious, but it means working hard on the guards.
He usually wakes up at 5:30 am every day to prepare breakfast for the two giant pandas Hua Li and Xing An, before eating breakfast himself.
A giant panda can eat up to 25 kilograms of bamboo per day. Therefore, the keepers have to carry clean bamboo for each giant panda several times a day.

Perhaps not everyone knows that the scientific name of the giant panda is Ailuropoda melanoleuca, which means “black and white cat’s foot”.
They can grow between 1.2m and 1.5m, weigh between 75kg and 135kg, and their body shape contributes to their elusiveness. Their round bodies and short limbs make pandas easy to loose, but scientists have discovered that they actually seem to enjoy them.
Interestingly, giant pandas are not silent animals at all, as they can cry, growl, growl and make sounds! They are excellent swimmers and spectacular climbers.
Andrew Schulz, a conservation physicist at Georgia Tech explained: “Without long limbs, it’s hard for them to climb, so they end up using their biggest appendageā¦ their head.”
He added: “By using their head and neck to hold the pole, they are able to climb effectively, which is unlike any other species I have ever seen.
Pandas are not fast, so it is important that they have the ability to climb.
